Accord (installation shot)

Cello, piezoelectric transducers, amplifier, sound, plinth

A cellist is recorded playing Bach’s Cello Suite No. 4 in E Flat Major. The cello is fitted with piezoelectric transducers, which are connected to an amplifier. As an input, piezoelectric transducers are normally used as contact microphones, but here they are used as an output. With the transducers placed on the body of the cello, they cause the instrument to act as a speaker and play the recording of its own sounds through itself
